Sonoma Valley is a pretty valley dotted with numerous vineyards, rolling hills and old colonial charm. I rode through some beautiful back roads to the picturesque town of Sonoma well known for its wine cellars, quaint shops and cafes and art galleries. There are some really historic buildings such as the Mission San Francisco and the Sonoma Barracks. It was established in 1823 to build a mission. I spent the night in a motel that cost me a lot but this was the extended vineyard country break I was looking to take after being deluged in rain almost each day for weeks.
