Coldfoot Station
Coldfoot station is that oasis of delight in the middle of an extremely dangerous and remote highway. The heart of Coldfoot is the Trucker’s Cafe. It’s a place to eat, drink and take a well deserved break. It serves up delicious food from hamburgers to steaks to amazing pies. The staff is awesome and super cool. And the “station” itself is interesting. It has a tiny post office, a helipad, an airstrip and a medical facility. Its the place where everyone on the highway seeks refuge – the truckers, bikers, campers, and cyclists.
I took a shower here, did my laundry and camped for a whole day, resting my tired muscles after 4 days of hard riding over 390 kms. Coldfoot is also famous for views of the Northern lights during winter when the temperature here plummets to – 40* C.
