The ride to Bob Quinn air strip was on the way to Bell 2. I thought I might push ahead for Bell 2 but the weather was not all that great and there was the undying headwind! I managed to reach Bob Quinn rest area at 4 pm, by which time the sun was out and the mountains around em looked magnificent! I could see snow covered peaks and glaciers and the evening sun cast a warm golden glow on the mountains around the area.
The Bob Quinn rest area has 2 picnic tables and a lot of grass. Though it is by the highway, its nice place to camp with a tent overnight. By late evening, there were 3 more RVs that pulled up for the night and parked alongside. I met Sebastian from Switzerland here. A great guy, who was cycling from South Dakota to Anchorage. Great nature, humorous and always a smile on his face. I was happy to have met him!
At night, I stepped out to take a pee, and to my surprise, I could see the wonderful Northern Lights dancing in the sky! It was a glorious spectacle and I quicly woke up Sebastion too!
Camped at: Wild, pit toilets, small creek about 200 mts before the rest area to fill water
Elevation gain: 1200 ft
