The ride to Kinaskan Lake Provincial park was uneventful except for a great lunch at Tatogga resort and quite a headwind after that, which helped to digest the Chicken burger!
By the time I arrived at Kinaskan Lake, it was raining, damp and dull. The campsite was quite well organised and I was able to find a spot under a nice clump of cedar trees.
Margaret, the camp operator ( park uniform) of German origin, was a lovely person with a lot of accomplishments in the service of Canada Parks and conservation. She does not charge cyclists anything for camping and did not ask for money for the firewood either! Was kind to give some really sweet oranges to eat!
The park is basic and has a great view of the lake though the mountains around it were shrouded in clouds!
I also met Tom ( yellow jersey) and his friend here. They were from Vancouver and Revelstoke. Both in their late 50s and 60s, were pushing it really hard and well and clocking 120 kms a day! Very impressed with their strength and stamina.
Elevation gain: 650 ft.
Expect strong headwinds on this stretch right up till September.
