The ride from Bow lake to Lake louise was light and easy going as the distance was not much. There were a few higher grades to encounter but it was all okay. I had some confusion on the route when I reached a crossing that went over the main Canadian highway, but it didnt last long. The ride into town on a cool sunny morning felt good. I was quite hungry so headed straight to the lake louise plaza where I had a pizza and coffee. It was packed with the last stream of vacationers before the onset of Winter. There was already an expectation that cold weather would break much earlier this year. I also thought I would have an ice cream but deferred it. Instead after lunch I set off to the lake louise campground and after all the formalities found myself entering a campground that was protected by an electrified fence as it was home to many grizzlies and black bear.
I set up tent in the campground and settled down to an evening I could look forward to. And it did turn out to be a really interesting evening. Two friendly swiss ladies invited me over for dinner to a table that they had laid out next to their camper van. They had baked a dish and made some delicious soup. They were on a camping adventure in the Rockies in their rented van and were having a great time. Just as we had dinner and were finishing the wine, we saw a light bobbing in the darkness. It was a cyclist, and as it turned out, it happened to be Takashi. He had been on the road for a long time and got delayed. The hospitable swiss hosts, laid out the table again for him and offered him a meal which Takashi was happy to accept!
It was a fun evening and I was happy to meet some really nice people and share stories.
