On 21 st September, winter came earlier by almost 4 weeks to Alberta, and it began to snow heavily. The forecast too did not look too promising and temperatures dropped to minus zero celsius. Given that I had to exit the USA by early December to Mexico because of my visa, I took a decision to cut across to Vancouver by hitching a ride. It saved me 10 days of cycling time and also an expense as there was no way of knowing the weather conditions enroute which might have kept me forcibly grounded for 2 to 3 days, just as it had at Banff. I was lucky to have Sebastian drive me 700 kms to Vancouver for CAD 40. He is a dance performer and extremely talented. Along the way, we had some really interesting conversations on history and life in general!
